Licensed Position Information

All instructional vacancies require a current North Carolina teaching license or the eligibility to hold a North Carolina license in the specific area. Due to the size of our district and our volume of vacancies, we are now accepting applications on an ongoing basis for the following teaching areas:

    • Pre-Kindergarten
    • Kindergarten - 5
    • Science
    • Math
    • Foreign Language
    • Exceptional Children
    • Guidance Counselor
    • ESL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)

    Step 1 - Apply

Access the NC State Online Application System and fill out an online application. https://schooljobs.dpi.state.nc.us/

    Step 2 – Qualify

The Office of Employment will review and process your online application.  If you hold a NC license, your application will be made available immediately to all hiring administrators for employment consideration.  If you do not hold a NC license, you will receive an email requesting documents needed to complete your application.  These documents include college transcripts, copies of applicable teacher competency test scores, and a copy of your teaching license if you are from out of state.

    Step 3 – Screening

If the Office of Employment determines that you are eligible for the position choices (subject areas) on your application and your application meets the needs of our district, you may be invited to participate in a face-to-face screening interview.  Should you be recommended to proceed to this step, the Office of Employment will contact you to schedule an interview.  For out of state applicants, we will offer a telephone interview.

Step 4 – School Level Interview

You should begin contacting principals to express your interest in being considered for vacant positions.  There are two ways to do this (in order of preference): email or telephone.  The principal directory with all contact information can be found at: http://www.gcsnc.com/directory/principal.htm.  Principals will review your application file to determine whether or not you are a possible match for a current vacancy.  If interested, the individual building principal will contact you and will schedule an interview date and time.
