GCS Volunteer of the Month for October 2007

Students and staff at Alderman Elementary consider Wanda Cornwell a superhero. She buys supplies for students, lends a helping hand in class and does whatever is necessary to ensure that students have a successful day. You might find her buying a student lunch or paying for a field trip. Principal Sadiyah Abdullah said, “As our students grow into adulthood, they will remember Wanda as their hero because of the support, love and respect that she gave to all children at Alderman. She is a crucial part of our Alderman family.” If that were not enough, Cornwell also assists at PTA nights, book fairs, fall festivals, parent night and other events.
Because of her tireless dedication to the students and staff at Alderman Elementary, Wanda has been selected as the October GCS Volunteer of the Month.
As Guilford County Schools’ Volunteer of the Month, Wanda will receive a $25 gift card from American Express. Additionally, her photo will hang on a plaque at her school during the month of October. Remember to watch for the Volunteer of the Month on GCSTV2!
