Construction Update
Andy LaRowe, executive director of facilities, presented to the board an update on the district’s construction projects in conjunction with the first day of school and an update on the progress of the 2008 bond projects.
Update on the First Day of School for Students
Dr. Eric Becoats, co-interim superintendent, presented to the board an update on the first day of school for students.
Architectural Selection Committee Update
Leo Bobadilla, chief operations officer, presented to the board an update based on the discussions at the Architectural Selection Committee’s meeting on Tuesday, August 26. The board approved to give 30-day notice of termination of contract to the Adams Group for their design services on Ragsdale High.
Contractual Agreement with New Atlantic Contracting for Pre-Construction Services at Jamestown Middle School
The board approved to award a contract to New Atlantic Contracting for Pre-Construction services at Jamestown Middle in the amount of $130,000, as presented by Leo Bobadilla, chief operations officer.
Pre-Kindergarten Report
Dr. Gongshu Zhang, chief accountability and research officer, presented to the board a report on the district’s pre-kindergarten program.
Update on 2008-09 Budget
The board approved the 2008-09 budget, as presented by Sharon Ozment, co-interim superintendent. The board also approved for staff to proceed using the following per pupil allotments: $16.74 for elementary, $19.96 for middle and $22.38 for high.
Board Discussion
North Carolina School Boards Association (NCSBA) Annual Conference Delegates and Confirmation of Attendance at the NCSBA District 5 Meeting
The board deferred discussion of the NCSBA annual conference delegates until a later meeting.
Guilford County Board of Education meetings are broadcast live on GCSTV 2 (cable channel 2) and re-air the day after the meeting at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. and the Saturday following the meeting at 1 p.m.
