Search Process for New Superintendent
The board voted for Maurice ‘Mo’ Green to become the next superintendent of Guilford County Schools (GCS). Green will begin Sept. 8, 2008.

Staff Reports
Preliminary 2007-08 Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) Update
Dr. Gongshu Zhang, chief accountability and research officer, presented to the board an update on preliminary 2007-08 AYP results.
Haberman Study
Dr. Gongshu Zhang, chief accountability and research officer, presented to the board initial research regarding the effectiveness of the Haberman screening process. The board deferred discussion of this item until the next meeting.
Construction Management at Risk for Jamestown Middle School
The board approved for staff and the board attorney to enter into negotiations with New Atlantic Contracting Group to provide services as Construction Management at Risk for Jamestown Middle. The board also approved second and third ranked firms, Barnhill Contracting and Samet Corporation, and authorized staff and the board attorney to enter into negotiations with the second and/or third ranked firm, if necessary.
2008-09 Universal Free Breakfast Program
The board approved for 23 schools to be eligible to participate in the GCS Universal Free Breakfast Program in 2008-09, as presented by Sharon Ozment, co-interim superintendent.
Guilford County Board of Education meetings are broadcast live on GCSTV 2 (cable channel 2) and re-air the day after the meeting at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. and the Saturday following the meeting at 1 p.m.
