Elementary School Updates

Front View of Guilford Elementary School

Guilford Elementary

Construction is moving smoothly at Guilford Elementary. Brick work, windows and roofing are almost done, and the entire school will be complete in mid-July. In the 2006-07 school year, former students from Guilford Primary will meet with students in grades three through five from Guilford Middle to fill out the new Guilford Elementary.

Northern area elementary
The northern area of Guilford County has seen major population growth, and to accommodate that, the district has expanded to the north. Scheduled to complete in December 2007, the northern area elementary is the third of the new schools in the area. Masonry walls are being raised, and the on-site sewer design and approval is in progress.

Parkview A+ Magnet School
A man can’t move a mountain, but can he move a stream? That’s just what happened at Parkview in order for the construction of six classrooms, two resource rooms, a multi-purpose room, media center and administrative area to begin. Two streams were redirected around the school, and now foundation work has begun. In addition to the new building, the school will also get a new front entrance. The project will complete this fall.

Pleasant Garden Elementary
4833 Pleasant Garden Road Pleasant Garden, NC 27313
The bid period for Pleasant Garden Elementary’s new addition has been extended to provide more time for design and review. The addition will include six classrooms, two resource rooms, a teacher workroom, kitchen, dining room, restrooms, storage and equipment rooms. The project will also include the installation of a sprinkler system.

Reedy Fork area elementary
When the new elementary at Reedy Fork opens, it will be the second “green” school in the district. Among its features are lots of natural lighting and a raised access floor panel system over the plumbing and HVAC piping. Masonry is in progress, and roof decking is right around the corner.

Union Hill Elementary
3523 Union Hill Court High Point, NC 27260
In the 2007-08 school year, students and staff will relocate to Allen Jay Middle. During that time, the old school will be demolished in order to make way for a brand new facility. The design, property acquisition, zoning and annexation are all underway. While no completion date can be made at this time, substantial completion is expected 14 months after the demolition work begins.
