Oak View Elementary is almost ready to open the doors on its new expansion – a building containing 13 classrooms, one ESOL classroom and two resource rooms. Almost complete, the new addition will house Oak View’s youngest students – the pre-K and kindergartners.

Principal Heather Bare said the school is more than ready for the new space. No longer in mobile units, now the younger grades will all be under one roof. “For the littlest ones, it’ll make a safer environment for our kids,” Bare explained. “And for the teachers, they’ll be able to team together more than in the past since they’ve sort of been isolated.”

In addition to housing the youngest students, the new ESOL classroom will provide also much-needed space to a teacher that traveled around to teach. Tthe ESOL students will be able to do more hands-on activities – something they couldn’t do in the limited space before.

From a design standpoint, the new building features large windows for natural light not only in the classrooms, but also in the corridors. The furniture for the classrooms is scheduled to be delivered in mid-April.

When students return from summer vacation, they will not only have use of their new building, but they will also have a new student drop-off area. No longer needed, nine mobile classrooms will be removed to create the new drive.
With the new facilities, the students at Oak View have all the tools they need to strive, achieve and excel.
