Betsy Crone, Media Specialist of the Year

The Guilford Association of School Librarians (GASL) named Betsy Crone, media specialist at Southeast Middle School, the 2008 School Library Media Coordinator of the Year.  Known as the "go to" person for new ideas and resources, Betsy has been praised by her principal, colleagues, and parents for promoting literacy among her students, and for her knack for making it possible for kids to want to try new books.  She has set an example of leadership throughout the media community, from coaching Battle of the Books to creating and managing a book discussion blog for our county’s Media Coordinators, and many other activities.

Congratulations to this well-rounded and versatile Media Coordinator.

Annual District Media Specialists’ Meeting

All GCS media specialists will meet August 25th from 8:30-12:30.  The meeting will be held in the auditorium at Smith High School.  Our special guest will be Dr. Barbara Zwadyk, High School Curriculum Officer. Media specialists will learn important information from Library Media Services and Technology.  We look forward to seeing everyone there.

The meeting is part of a workshop, Updates, Reports & Best Practices, that includes two more sessions.  Those who would like to earn renewal credit for the workshop must register online.
