Custodial - Classroom Tasks

MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY

The following tasks are to be completed on a daily basis, Monday - Friday of each week.

  • Stock all dispensers and check to ensure that each operates correctly.
  • Clean and sanitize any mirrors.
  • Clean and sanitize sinks removing any debris.
  • Vacuum all carpeted areas.
  • Inspect all light fixtures, replace burnt out bulbs.
  • Replace soil, stained or damaged ceiling tiles.
  • Damp and dust mop hard floors removing build-up in corners.
  • Inspect and remove contents of recycling containers on Monday, Wednesday, Friday of each week. Contents are to be emptied in designated recycling dumpster.
  • Clean up all body fluids and sanitize all contaminated surfaces.
  • Empty trash receptacles, replacing soiled liners, and empty accumulated trash into outside dumpsters provided for such purposes.

WEEKLY

The following additional tasks are to be completed on Friday of each week.

  • High dust all surfaces above hand height (70 inches) including sills, moldings, ledges, shelves, frames, fixtures, and ducts.
  • Low dust all surfaces below hand height (70 inches) including sills, moldings, ledges, shelves, frames, fixtures, and ducts.

MONTHLY

The following additional tasks are to be completed on the fifteenth of each month. If this day falls on the weekend, tasks shall be done on the nearest business day, (For example, if the fifteenth falls on a Sunday, the tasks shall be done on Monday, the sixteenth; if the fifteenth falls on a Saturday, the task shall be done on the Friday, the fourteenth.

  • Spray Buff hard-surfaced floors.
  • Dust vents and returns.

QUARTERLY

The following additional tasks are to be completed on the first workday of the following months: August, November, February, and May.

  • Dust all blinds on both sides.
  • Wash trash receptacles.

BI-ANNUALLY

The following tasks are to be completed twice a year at a time designated by the Division Representative in each building.

  • Clean carpet, removing spots using a truck mount carpet steam cleaner and extractor.

ANNUALLY

The following tasks are to be completed once per year at a time designated by the Division Representative in each building.

  • Move all furniture in preparation to stripping and waxing floors.
  • Strip waxes from all hard-surfaced floors, refinish, and machine polish during non-operations hours, including all tile floors.
  • Clean all interior and exterior glass, including all doors and windows.
  • Remove, clean, and re-hang all blinds, in their proper locations.
  • Wash all sills, frames, lights, pipes, moldings, shelves, and ducts.
  • Wipe all furniture to remove debris and gum.
