Custodial - Hallway Tasks

MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY

The following tasks are to be completed on a daily basis, Monday - Friday of each week.

  • Empty trash receptacles, replacing soiled liners, and empty accumulated trash into outside dumpsters provided for such purposes.
  • Damp and dust mop hard floors removing build-up in corners.
  • Remove scuff marks and debris from floors, including gum.
  • Vacuum all carpeted areas.
  • Replace soiled, stained or damaged ceiling tiles.
  • Inspect all light fixtures to include exit lights; replace all burnt-out bulbs
  • Clean and sanitize all water fountains, removing spots, stains and splashes from wall areas next to fountains and the fountain.
  • Clean up all body fluids and sanitize all contaminated surfaces.
  • Sweep steps thoroughly.

WEEKLY

The following additional tasks are to be completed on Friday of each week.

  • Mop and sanitize all hard-surfaced floors.
  • Spot clean interior glass in partitions and doors.
  • Spray Buff hard-surfaced floors.
  • Spot clean walls.
  • Clean walk-off mats (underneath as well).
  • Dust light fixtures and Exit Lights, where installed.
  • High dust all surfaces above hand height (70 inches) including sills, moldings, ledges, shelves, frames, fixtures, and ducts.
  • Low dust all surfaces below hand height (70 inches) including sills, moldings, ledges, shelves, frames, fixtures, and ducts.
  • Dust on and around all lockers.

MONTHLY

The following additional tasks are to be completed on the fifteenth of each month. If this day falls on the weekend, tasks shall be done on the nearest business day, (For example, if the fifteenth falls on a Sunday, the tasks shall be done on Monday, the sixteenth; if the fifteenth falls on a Saturday, the task shall be done on the Friday, the fourteenth.

  • Machine scrub (spray buff) lobby, hard-surfaced halls.
  • Dust vents and returns.

QUARTERLY

The following additional tasks are to be completed on the first workday of the following months: August, November, February, and May.

  • Wash and sanitize exterior of lockers.
  • Wash trash receptacles.
  • Scrub and top-coat all hard-surfaced floors

ANNUALLY

The following tasks are to be completed once per year at a time designated by the Division Representative in each building.

  • Move all furniture in preparation to stripping and waxing floors.
  • Strip waxes from all hard-surfaced floors, refinish, and machine polish during non-operations hours, including all tile floors.
  • Clean all interior and exterior glass, including all doors and windows.
  • Remove with cleansers/paint/touch-up areas depicting stains and/or graffiti.
  • Wash all sills, frames, lights, pipes, moldings, shelves, and ducts.
  • Wash interior of all lockers.
