Employee of the Month (April 2006)

Sam’s Club representative Steve Drewry poses with Pamela Brown shortly after she was notified that she was selected as the district’s Employee of the Month for April 2006. Sam’s Club sponsors the Employee of the Month program.
Pamela Brown brings light into a world of darkness for her visually impaired students. She puts her students first, no matter what. She is said to “fight tooth and nail” as she advocates for them and, more importantly, teaches them to be advocates for themselves.
Alex Williamson can tell you about Pamela’s advocacy. The senior from Northwest High, who is blind, has been taught by Pamela for the past seven years. Even during Alex’s heart surgery in December, Pamela kept in constant contact with his classroom teachers to ensure that Alex was up to date on his school work. Because of Pamela’s tireless efforts, Alex Williamson has a 4.0 average and will graduate with the rest of his high school class this year.
At a ceremony this afternoon, the district’s Employee of the Month received a $50 gift card from Sam’s Club, which has partnered with GCS to support the employee recognition program.
