Employee of the Month (January 2007)
Guilford County Schools Announce Tara Peeples as Employee of the Month
After the devastating fire at Eastern Guilford High School, Guilford County Schools’ employees put forth a Herculean effort to prepare alternate locations so that students could return to class.
As part of the district’s technology team, Tara Peeples and her colleagues spent untold hours pulling wires, running cables and installing computers to make the Brown Summit campus network ready for Eastern students. Peeples, who put her own projects on hold during this time, was often the last one out of the building at midnight and the first one there in the mornings to meet contractors, train teachers and provide any kind of support needed—all without a word of complaint. “People rally in an emergency, but Tara’s dedication and long hours were an inspiration to many of us who didn’t know what we could do to help in such a devastating situation,” read the nomination submitted on behalf of this employee.
As Guilford County Schools’ Employee of the Month, Peeples received a $50 gift card from Sam’s Club, who has partnered with GCS to execute the employee recognition program. Peeples’ photo will hang on a plaque at the district’s central offices and at Sam’s Club on Wendover Avenue. Watch for the Employee of the Month on GCS TV2!
