Senior Purchasing Agent
Under general supervision, performs technical accounting and purchasing work in order to procure goods and services for GCS in accordance with the North Carolina General Statutes and local procedures. Work involves preparing bid specifications and related documents for the purchase of materials, supplies, and services. Employee is responsible for reviewing purchase documentation to ensure that funds are available and necessary documentation is filed. Employee is also responsible for monitoring, preparing, compiling, and maintaining financial records and reports. Employee serves as a liaison between vendors and the organization, maintaining current knowledge of materials and price lists for use when ordering materials, equipment, supplies, etc. Employee works closely with corporate world to take advantage of all changing trends in business. Prepares and accepts formal bids for goods, services and construction. Employee reports to the Assistant Purchasing Officer.

Guilford County Schools is in search of instructional and administrative leaders who are committed to putting children first. Demonstrated leadership and commitment to excellence is required. Educators who have a strong sense of responsibility for interpreting the district’s curriculum and for planning and implementing instructional strategies with teachers resulting in high levels of achievements for all students will be demanded for this position. In creating outstanding urban schools, a background in data analysis; building positive school climates; decision making and developing relationships with parents and communities is considered priority. The ability to work effectively to provide a cohesive, interdependent and safe learning environment is essential. Candidates must be able to provide evidence of effective previous experience in orchestrating, developing and encouraging superior work and cooperation among parents, staff, students and the various communities.
Salary will be determined based on the state salary schedule plus an attractive local supplement. A North Carolina Principal License is required. Except for interim appointments, initial contract will be offered.
All interested persons, including present GCS employees, who wish to be actively considered in the next round of screenings, should submit a letter of interest indicating the level (high, middle, elementary, or special school) of interest. Those not presently employed by GCS as an administrator, or those without an active application on file must also complete the GCS administrative application (www.gcsnc.com). After a file review, interviews may be requested by the district and will be scheduled as needed.

Occupational and Physical Therapists
Guilford County Schools Exceptional Children’s Program is actively seeking Occupational Therapists (OTs) and Physical Therapists (PTs) to fill several vacancies in our district Applicants must have graduated from a four-year accredited program of occupational therapy or physical therapy and be licensed as an OT or PT by the North Carolina Board of Occupational Therapy or the North Carolina Board of Physical Therapy. Positions are 10 month.

Educational Interpreters
Guilford County Schools Exceptional Children’s Program is currently hiring educational interpreters for the remainder of the 2008-09 school year. The interpreter must have competence in providing transliterating/interpreting services in the classroom or at school related activities for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Educational Interpreter Level I must have high school diploma. No prior experience required. A minimum score of Level 3 on the Educational Interpreter Proficiency Assessment or a passing score on a state level interpreting evaluation. Must annually complete 15 hours of training.
Qualifications for Educational Interpreter II includes having an AA degree in Educational Interpreting from an accredited program and a minimum of two years experience in an educational setting or licensure from Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc., National Association for the Deaf or the Cued Speech Transliterator Training, Evaluation and Certification Unit and two years of experience in an educational setting. Must annually complete 15 hours of training related to interpreting that has been approved by the local education agency. Must be proficient in American Sign Language, Communicate with the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, must have passed a Proficiency Assessment.
