Parent/Guardian Questions and Concerns
Guilford County Schools (GCS) cares deeply about the success and well-being of all students. When a parent/guardian has a question or concern regarding their child’s daily life in school, GCS will make every effort to develop a win-win solution that works for everyone, while putting the student’s needs first.
The district believes that the potential for success is greatly enhanced in a school environment characterized by mutual respect, fair and impartial treatment, open lines of communication and adequate procedures for solving differences.
When addressing any question or concern at a school, please follow the steps below.
Step One: Teacher
Your child’s teacher should be the first contact for questions regarding your student.
Step Two: Principal
If your child's teacher cannot assist you, please contact the school’s principal.
Step Three: School Support Office
If the principal cannot assist you, please contact the School Support Office, which acts as a mediator between parents and school personnel and will work to resolve any disagreements.

If concerns remain unresolved, the school support office will inform parents of the Grievance Procedure. GCS believes that most differences and problems need to be resolved in an expeditious manner through an open and honest discussion between the parties concerned; however, the district recognizes that open discussion may not be able to resolve all problems. The grievance procedure can be found in the student handbook.
