On March 10, 2009, the Guilford County Board of Education approved the regional reorganization, a major initiative of Superintendent Maurice “Mo” Green’s Strategic Plan 2012. The goal of the regional reorganization is to place resources closer to schools, enhance responsiveness and increase community involvement. 

Under the plan, GCS is restructured into four geographic regions and an Enrichment Region, which includes nine schools that will receive intensive support. The four regions are geographically contiguous and consist of elementary, middle and high schools based on current GCS high school feeder patterns. As much as possible, the regions have comparable number of students and similar ethnic and socioeconomic populations. Current attendance boundaries are not affected.
